Lillie Mae Grayson was born on September 18, 1943 to John Henry and Mary Nell Grayson. Lillie accepted Christ at an early age and united with New Style United Methodist Church where she remained a faithful member until her illness.
Lillie met and married Decatur Miller and to this union a son was born, Decatur Ward Miller. Lillie was preceded in death by her wonderful son, Decatur Ward Miller; her parents, John Henry and Mary Nell Harris Grayson; her paternal grandparents, Jimmie and Lucy Grayson and her maternal grandparents; March Harris, Sr. and Ruby Harris Ellis; and her brother, John W. Grayson.
Lillie completed her education from the Elmore County Training School in the class of 1962. After high school, Lillie was employed 38 years with Mount Vernon Mills in Tallassee, Alabama. Lillie received numerous awards of excellence while employed at Mount Vernon Mills for her strong commitment to service. After retirement from Mount Vernon Mills, Lillie was later employed with First Baptist Church in Wetumpka, Alabama. In 2017 Lille became employed with the City of Wetumpka at the Wetumpka Senior Center where she remained employed until she became ill. Lillie loved her work and was a loyal employee, beloved by her senior friends.
Lillie touched the lives of everyone she encountered with her kindness, sweet spirit and gentle nature. Her infectious smile, selfless generosity, thoughtfulness and flare for style will be forever adored and missed by all that knew her. Lillie will remain in our hearts forever!
She leaves to cherish her precious and loving memories three dearly loving and devoted sisters: Cecile Grayson, Ruby Grayson and Emma Grayson all of Wetumpka, Alabama, a loving and caring nephew: Louis (Lynette) Grayson, Savannah, GA, and Bradley (Shemika) Cook of Wetumpka, AL, a special niece, Tracie Grayson of Wetumpka, Alabama, loving and caring nieces: Valeria (Roni) Lindsey of Middletown, Delaware, Sherry (Mark) Jackson of Prattville, AL, Shearese (Kevin) Grant of Millbrook, AL, Tearese (Terry) Mitchell of Union City, GA, Janet (Eric) Chappelle of Millbrook, AL, Bridgett (Reginald) Rivers of Montgomery, AL, Latoya Harrell of Wetumpka, AL and Amesha Carey of Montgomery, AL, and Valencia Thomas, Wetumpka, Al, three loving great nephews: Stanley Grayson of Prattville, AL, Louis Grayson, Jr., of Savannah, GA, Trent Grayson of Prattville, AL, four loving great nieces: Toneisheya Grayson of Eclectic, AL, Ariane Lindsey of Middletown, Delaware, Saiban Chappelle of Millbrook, AL, Kerrington Mitchell of Union City, Ga, a loving great-great nephew, Xavier Hunt of Eclectic, AL, loving and caring cousins: Rita Grayson of Wetumpka, AL and Rashad (Tausha) Grayson of Wetumpka, Al and a host of other cousins, relatives, friends and church family. She also leaves to cherish her memory special friendships with Edna Anthony, Mary Ann Barrett, Jesse Freeman, Sandra Smith and friends of the Wetumpka Senior Center.
