Shirley Dean McDowell

Ms. Shirley Dean McDowell was born to the late Willie McDowell Sr. and Lula McDowell-Martin on September 17, 1965. Shirley confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Shirley graduated from Wetumpka High School class of 1983 and soon after she completed a course of study in Word Processing II, where she received her Diploma from there in 1984. Ms. McDowell was full of life and had love for everyone. She was known for her radiant smile and always shared words of motivation with her children and peers. Shirley was employed at Walmart where she never met a stranger and greeted all customers with a smile and maybe even a photo op with some of her more loyal customers. After years of hard work and dedication at Walmart, she began a new career at Answered Prayer until her health failed.
After a long hard fight, she won her battle on Dec 7, 2022 at Baptist East Hospital. Shirley is preceded in death by her father Willie McDowell Sr., Brother; Roderick Smith. Aunts; Julia Harris, Nettie Sales, Ethel Cain and Uncle Charles Williams.
Shirley is survived by her mother Lula (William) Martin, Daughters; Laurien McDowell of Clarksville, TN, Elizabeth McDowell of Alexander City, Alabama, Brandon McDowell of Alexander City, AL. and Aaron McDowell of Wetumpka, Alabama. Three grandchildren; Jy’kerius Dubose, Ty’Shaun Dubose, and Alyssa Dubose all of Alexander City, AL. Four brothers; Wallace (Janet) McDowell of Wetumpka, AL, Christopher (Sherri) McDowell of Virginia, Willie McDowell of Montgomery, Alabama, and Terribia Mister of Chicago, IL. Eight Nephews; Willie McDowell III, Josh McDowell, Jared McDowell, Jarod McDowell, Kadarious McDowell, Christopher Thomas, Amarion McDowell and Terribia Mister Jr. Three nieces; Portia Gilbert, Mariah Martin, and Shealynn Blanco. Four Aunts; Mamie Carroll, Annie Lewis, Dorothy Lewis, Betty Farrow all of Wetumpka, AL, and special Aunt, Dora Harris of Montgomery, AL.
